Simple, tasty stew with the fragrence of the forest. To make such a meal over a campfire makes the dinner experience unique.
Ingredients
550 gr (1.2 lbs) of moose, reindeer or venison
150 gr (5 oz) yellow chantarelle, white button mushrooms, or other good mushrooms
2 onions
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbs flour
a sprinkle pepper
1/2 tsp thyme
1 Tbs soy sauce
2 dl (1 cup minus 1 Tbs) sour cream or créme fraîche
Instructions
STEP 1
Cut the meat into strips, mushrooms in pieces, and chop the onion.
STEP 2 Brown the meat, mushrooms, and onion on the griddle before it is put into the
soup pot. Stir in the flour and spices.
STEP 3
Add the water and soy sauce, stir, and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
STEP 4 Add the sour cream or créme fraîche before serving.
Final tip
For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding a splash of red wine or a touch of garlic to your stew while it simmers. This will deepen the flavors and add a subtle richness that complements the gamey taste of the meat and the earthiness of the mushrooms. Remember, the key to a great campfire stew is patience — let it simmer slowly to allow all the flavors to meld beautifully.
